Job Description
Career.zycto is actively seeking a passionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our thriving educational team in Bulwell, Nottingham. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support to students with diverse learning needs, both within and outside the classroom setting. This role requires a proactive and empathetic approach, working closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and ensure effective progress monitoring. You will assist in preparing learning materials, adapting resources to suit various learning styles, and facilitating small group or one-on-one sessions. Beyond academic assistance, you will also contribute to students’ social and emotional well-being, helping them develop essential life skills, build confidence, and navigate challenges. Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with diverse learning needs, including those with SEND.
- Assist teachers in preparing and adapting learning materials and resources to meet individual student requirements.
- Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and contribute to the review and assessment process.
- Support students in developing independent learning skills and positive study habits.
- Help manage classroom behaviour and foster a positive, inclusive learning environment.
- Assist with the recording and monitoring of student progress, reporting observations to class teachers.
- Support students' social and emotional development, promoting self-esteem and confidence.
- Liaise effectively with teachers, parents/guardians, and other professionals regarding student progress and well-being.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
- Supervise students during non-classroom activities, such as lunch breaks and playground time, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
- Strong understanding of child development and various learning styles.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant qualification in education, childcare, or special educational needs (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification).
- Previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant or similar role in an educational setting.
- Experience supporting students with specific learning difficulties (e.g., dyslexia, ADHD, autism).
- Knowledge of the UK national curriculum.
