As a Lighting Technician, you will be at the heart of our visual storytelling, responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of all lighting equipment. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, program, set up, and operate various lighting systems for live events, productions, and installations.
  • Perform pre-production checks, testing, and maintenance of all lighting equipment to ensure optimal functionality and safety.
  • Collaborate with clients, directors, designers, and other technical crew to understand creative visions and execute lighting plans.
  • Operate lighting consoles and control systems during rehearsals and live performances, making real-time adjustments as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with lighting fixtures, cables, dimmers, and control systems promptly.
  • Manage inventory of lighting equipment, ensuring proper storage, cleanliness, and organization.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and industry best practices for rigging, electrical work, and equipment handling.
  • Assist with load-in and load-out of equipment at various venues, requiring physical exertion and heavy lifting.
  • Stay updated with new lighting technologies, techniques, and trends to recommend innovative solutions.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Lighting Technician in live events, theatre, or production.
  • Proficiency in operating lighting consoles (e.g., GrandMA, Hog, Avolites, ETC Element/Ion).
  • Strong understanding of DMX, Art-Net, sACN, and other lighting control protocols.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and power distribution for lighting setups.
  • Ability to read and interpret lighting plots, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues under pressure.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) and work at heights.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Technical Theatre, Live Event Production, or a related field.
  • Certification in rigging or aerial work platforms (e.g., Fall Protection, WHMIS).
  • Experience with CAD software (e.g., Vectorworks, AutoCAD) for lighting design.
  • Familiarity with media servers and video projection systems.
  • Valid G Class Driver’s License and clean driving record.
