Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently load and unload cargo from vehicles, containers, and storage areas using appropriate equipment and manual handling techniques.
- Verify cargo against manifests or other documentation, identifying and reporting any discrepancies, damages, or missing items immediately.
- Organize and stack cargo in designated areas within the warehouse, ensuring proper weight distribution and accessibility for retrieval.
- Operate pallet jacks, forklifts, or other material handling equipment as required, adhering strictly to safety protocols and operational guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment, including regular clearing of debris and proper storage of equipment.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and drivers to ensure smooth and timely cargo flow.
- Conduct routine checks on equipment and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs.
- Adhere to all company policies, health and safety regulations, and security procedures.
Required Skills
- Proven physical fitness and stamina to handle heavy lifting and repetitive tasks safely.
- Strong attention to detail for accurate cargo verification and placement.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a cohesive team.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet loading/unloading deadlines.
- Basic numeracy and literacy for understanding documentation and labels.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to all procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (6-12 months) in a loading, warehousing, or logistics environment.
- Valid forklift operator license (Counterbalance or Reach Truck).
- Familiarity with inventory management systems or cargo handling software.
- Knowledge of manual handling best practices and heavy lifting techniques.
