Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and inventory management.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods and materials to various project sites within Turkana County and surrounding areas.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers, freight forwarders, and transport companies, negotiating terms and optimizing routes.
  • Maintain precise records of all incoming and outgoing shipments, tracking stock levels and updating inventory systems.
  • Prepare and process necessary documentation for logistics activities, including waybills, customs declarations, and delivery notes.
  • Identify and resolve logistics-related issues such as delays, damages, and discrepancies efficiently.
  • Implement and enforce health, safety, and environmental standards within all logistics activities.
  • Generate regular reports on logistics performance, costs, and efficiency for management review.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant local and international shipping and transportation regulations.
  • Collaborate with procurement, project management, and other internal departments to align logistics strategies with overall company goals.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Logistics Coordinator or in a similar role within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain management principles and warehousing procedures.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills under pressure.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, fluent in English (both written and spoken).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, adapting to changing priorities.
  • Valid Kenyan driving license and ability to operate relevant logistics equipment (e.g., forklifts, if required).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in Logistics or Supply Chain (e.g., CILT, APICS).
  • Experience working in remote or challenging operational environments, particularly in East Africa.
  • Familiarity with local customs procedures and regulations in Kenya.
  • Knowledge of an additional local language (e.g., Swahili, Turkana) is a plus.
