Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef in the planning and directing of food preparation and culinary activities.
  • Oversee and manage kitchen staff, including training, scheduling, and performance reviews.
  • Ensure all food preparation and presentation meets established quality and safety standards.
  • Contribute to menu development, including creating new recipes and seasonal specials.
  • Manage kitchen inventory, order supplies, and control food costs while minimizing waste.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and other kitchen workers.
  • Handle kitchen administrative tasks, including record-keeping and reporting.
  • Troubleshoot kitchen issues and resolve them efficiently.
  • Lead by example, fostering a positive and productive team atmosphere.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 4 years of progressive culinary experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Proven knowledge of culinary techniques, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations (e.g., HACCP, FoodSafe).
  • Creative flair and passion for culinary arts.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Culinary diploma or degree from an accredited institution.
