Job Description
Brookside Dairy Ltd. is seeking a dedicated and skilled Machine Operator to join our industrial plant team in Muthaiga, Nairobi. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a strong mechanical aptitude and a commitment to operational efficiency and safety. As a Machine Operator, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of various production machinery within our dairy processing plant. Your primary role will involve setting up, operating, monitoring, and maintaining production equipment to meet daily output targets while adhering strictly to quality control standards and safety protocols. You will be responsible for ensuring the machinery runs optimally, diagnosing minor faults, and performing routine preventative maintenance. This role requires a keen eye for detail, the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor various industrial machinery and equipment involved in dairy processing, packaging, and material handling.
- Perform routine setup, calibration, and adjustments of machines to ensure optimal performance and product quality.
- Conduct regular quality checks on products during the production process and report any deviations.
- Execute minor troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on machinery to minimize downtime.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and good manufacturing practices (GMPs).
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring hygiene standards are consistently met.
- Record production data, machine parameters, and maintenance logs accurately.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and maintenance personnel to resolve operational issues.
- Identify and report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or quality concerns promptly.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Machine Operator in an industrial or manufacturing setting (food processing preferred).
- Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of machine operations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot minor technical issues.
- Adherence to strict safety protocols and willingness to learn new procedures.
- Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods, lift moderate weights, and work in varied plant conditions.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for recording data.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical certificate or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Technology, or a related field.
- Experience with dairy processing equipment or food manufacturing machinery.
- Familiarity with GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and HACCP principles.
- Forklift operation certification.
- Basic computer proficiency for data entry and monitoring systems.
