Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Night Shift Security Guard to join our growing team in Red Deer, Alberta. This crucial role involves maintaining a secure environment for our premises, personnel, and assets during overnight hours. As a Night Shift Security Guard, you will be the first line of defense, responsible for deterring illegal activities, responding to incidents, and ensuring the smooth operation of our security protocols throughout your shift. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular foot and vehicle patrols of designated areas during night hours to detect and deter security breaches.
- Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems, responding promptly and appropriately to any alerts or suspicious activities.
- Control access to premises, verifying identification and authorizing entry for approved personnel and visitors.
- Enforce company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with security regulations.
- Respond to emergencies such as fires, medical incidents, or security threats, escalating situations as required.
- Prepare detailed and accurate incident reports, daily activity logs, and other required documentation.
- Collaborate with emergency services (police, fire, EMS) as needed during critical situations.
- Provide excellent customer service and assistance to employees and authorized visitors.
- Perform routine checks on safety equipment and infrastructure to ensure proper functioning.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Alberta Security Guard License
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a security guard role, preferably in a night shift capacity
- Strong observational and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to operate surveillance equipment and basic security systems
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office)
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Clean criminal record check and personal background check
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Post-secondary education in criminal justice or a related field
- Experience with access control systems and alarm response protocols
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record
