Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care, including assisting with personal hygiene (bathing, dressing, grooming).
  • Assist patients with mobility, transfers, and positioning, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Monitor and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) and report any significant changes to the nursing staff promptly.
  • Assist patients with feeding and ensure proper nutrition and hydration.
  • Document patient observations, care provided, and any reported concerns accurately and clearly.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe patient environment, including changing bed linens.
  • Respond to patient call bells and requests in a timely and compassionate manner.
  • Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families.
  • Assist nurses with various medical procedures and patient assessments as directed.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all health and safety regulations, infection control policies, and facility protocols.
  • Collaborate effectively with the healthcare team to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.

Required Skills

  • Proven ability to work effectively and independently during night shifts.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong observational and reporting abilities.
  • Profound empathy, compassion, and patience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Physical stamina and strength to assist patients with mobility.

  • Proficiency in both English and Swahili.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate in Patient Care Assistant, Nursing Aid, Home Health Aide, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospital, clinic, or long-term care setting.
  • Previous experience specifically with night shift duties.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • First Aid certification.
