Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end payroll process for multiple clients, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Process starters, leavers, salary changes, statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP), and deductions.
- Ensure full compliance with HMRC regulations, including RTI submissions and year-end procedures.
- Administer pension schemes, including auto-enrolment and contribution processing.
- Resolve payroll queries from employees and clients efficiently and professionally.
- Prepare and submit comprehensive payroll reports to management and clients.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure data integrity and confidentiality.
- Work collaboratively with HR and Finance departments to ensure seamless information flow.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy.
- Stay updated with changes in payroll legislation and best practices.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or similar role (minimum 3 years).
- Exceptional fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- In-depth knowledge of UK payroll legislation, including HMRC regulations and statutory payments.
- Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., Sage Payroll, Iris Payroll, Xero Payroll).
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (intermediate to advanced).
- High level of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- CIPP qualification (or working towards).
- Experience working in a multi-client payroll bureau environment.
- Knowledge of various pension schemes beyond standard auto-enrolment.
- Experience with HRIS systems integration with payroll.
- A degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
