Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures with precision and minimal discomfort for patients of all ages.
- Accurately identify patients, label specimens, and complete necessary documentation according to established protocols.
- Maintain strict adherence to universal precautions, infection control policies, and safety standards.
- Prepare and process collected specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring sample integrity.
- Provide clear and concise pre- and post-collection instructions to patients.
- Manage and organize phlebotomy supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper storage.
- Effectively communicate with patients, physicians, and laboratory personnel regarding collection procedures and special requirements.
- Handle patient inquiries and concerns with professionalism and empathy.
- Comply with all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Assist with other laboratory or clinic duties as assigned to support overall operations.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Technician program.
- Current Phlebotomy certification (e.g., ASCP, AMT, NHA) or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Phlebotomy Technician in a clinical setting.
- Proven proficiency in venipuncture techniques for diverse patient populations.
- Strong understanding of specimen collection, handling, and processing procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
