Key Responsibilities
- Assist Physiotherapists in the delivery of treatment programs, including therapeutic exercises, mobility training, and modalities.
- Prepare treatment areas and equipment, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and proper functioning.
- Educate and instruct patients on exercise techniques, proper body mechanics, and use of assistive devices as directed by the Physiotherapist.
- Monitor patient progress and report any changes, concerns, or observations to the supervising Physiotherapist.
- Document patient activities, responses, and attendance accurately and promptly.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment, reporting needs or malfunctions.
- Provide administrative support such as scheduling appointments and managing patient records.
- Adhere to all clinic policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.
- Foster a positive and supportive environment for patient rehabilitation and recovery.
Required Skills
- Graduation from an accredited Physiotherapy Assistant or Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Physiotherapy Assistant or similar role.
- Demonstrated knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and rehabilitation principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centred approach.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow instructions meticulously.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with a diverse patient population and various conditions.
- Knowledge of Canadian healthcare standards and practices.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
