Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient examinations, diagnose foot, ankle, and lower leg conditions, and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Perform various podiatric procedures including debridement, nail surgeries, wart removal, and minor soft tissue surgeries.
- Prescribe and fit custom orthotics, braces, and other assistive devices.
- Manage and treat complex conditions such as diabetic foot ulcers, sports injuries, biomechanical abnormalities, and dermatological conditions affecting the feet.
- Provide thorough patient education on foot health, preventative care, post-operative care, and lifestyle modifications.
- Collaborate effectively with general practitioners, specialists, and other healthcare providers to ensure integrated patient care.
- Maintain accurate, detailed, and up-to-date electronic patient records in compliance with professional and regulatory standards.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in podiatric medicine, techniques, and technologies through continuing education.
- Participate in clinic meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and contribute to a positive and professional work environment.
Required Skills
- Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (D.P.M.) degree from an accredited institution.
- Current and unrestricted license to practice Podiatry in British Columbia.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in a diverse range of podiatric conditions.
- Demonstrated expertise in diagnostic evaluation and the development of comprehensive treatment plans.
- Proficiency in performing minor surgical procedures and managing common podiatric ailments.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain complex medical information clearly to patients and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a patient-centered approach to care.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Board certification in Podiatric Surgery or a related sub-specialty.
- Experience with advanced podiatric technologies, such as laser therapy, diagnostic ultrasound, or gait analysis systems.
- Additional certifications in wound care, sports podiatry, or diabetic foot management.
- A track record of high patient satisfaction and positive outcomes, evidenced by professional references.
- Fluency in additional languages relevant to Vancouver's diverse population.
