Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor various types of presses (e.g., stamping, hydraulic, pneumatic) according to production orders and specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work instructions to ensure accurate machine configuration and material selection.
- Perform routine quality checks on finished products and in-process materials, identifying and addressing any deviations from standards.
- Adjust machine settings, tooling, and dies as needed to maintain optimal performance and product quality.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on press machinery, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and collaborate with maintenance or supervisory staff for complex repairs.
- Document production activities, including output, downtime, and quality control data.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure a safe and efficient production environment.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to achieve production goals and foster a positive work atmosphere.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 18 months) as a Press Operator or in a similar manufacturing role.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to operate complex machinery.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on press equipment.
- Understanding of safety protocols and procedures in a factory setting.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Post-secondary training or certification in manufacturing, machining, or a related trade.
- Experience with CNC press operation and programming.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Forklift certification or experience operating other material handling equipment.
