Job Description
Jake’s Hotel, Villas & Spa is seeking a dedicated and proactive Part-Time Property Maintenance Aide to join our vibrant team in Billy’s Bay, Treasure Beach. In this essential role, you will be crucial in ensuring the continuous upkeep, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of our unique resort properties, encompassing our hotel rooms, villas, common areas, and grounds.

As a Property Maintenance Aide, you will handle a variety of tasks ranging from general repairs and preventative maintenance to assisting with groundskeeping and responding to guest service requests. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on resort infrastructure, including plumbing, electrical fixtures, carpentry, and painting.
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and tasks to ensure all systems and amenities are in optimal working condition.
- Assist with groundskeeping duties, including landscaping, gardening, and maintaining pathways and communal areas.
- Respond promptly and efficiently to guest maintenance requests, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum satisfaction.
- Troubleshoot issues with appliances, HVAC systems (basic level), and other resort equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance workshops and storage areas.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company policies, reporting any hazards or unsafe conditions immediately.
- Collaborate effectively with other departments (Housekeeping, Front Desk) to ensure seamless operation and guest service.
- Assist in moving furniture, setting up event spaces, and other physical tasks as required.
- Document all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections accurately.
- Identify and report major repair needs to the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Ensure all work is carried out with respect for guest privacy and property.
- Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of proven experience in property maintenance, general handyman services, or a similar role.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, and carpentry.
- Ability to perform light to medium physical labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and helpful demeanor.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of local dialect (Patois) is a plus.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures and precautions.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training or certification in a skilled trade (e.g., plumbing, electrical, carpentry).
- Experience working in a hospitality or resort environment.
- Knowledge of local building codes and standards.
- Familiarity with tropical plant care and landscaping practices.
- Ability to operate basic power tools and hand tools safely and effectively.
