Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of the student residential property, ensuring a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment.
  • Oversee the entire leasing process, including marketing vacancies, showing units, screening applicants, executing lease agreements, and conducting move-ins/move-outs.
  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve and maintain high occupancy rates and rent collection targets.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with student residents, addressing inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Coordinate and supervise maintenance activities, repairs, and preventative maintenance schedules with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Manage financial aspects of the property, including budget adherence, rent collection, invoice processing, and preparing regular financial reports.
  • Enforce property rules and regulations, resolving disputes and implementing disciplinary actions as necessary, always with a focus on student well-being.
  • Organize and support community-building events and activities to enhance the student living experience.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant housing laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise on-site staff (e.g., resident advisors, maintenance personnel), if applicable.
  • Conduct regular property inspections to identify and address potential issues.
  • Handle emergency situations effectively and efficiently, acting as the primary point of contact.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in property management, preferably within student housing or multi-family residential.
  • Strong understanding of landlord-tenant laws and fair housing regulations.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in property management software (e.g., Yardi, AppFolio, RealPage) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and financial reporting.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies and work flexible hours as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Real Estate, or a related field.
  • Certified Property Manager (CPM) or Residential Property Manager (RPM) designation.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.
  • Familiarity with the Steveston/Richmond local area.
