Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain recycling equipment, including balers, sorters, and forklifts, safely and efficiently.
- Sort and process various recyclable materials (plastics, paper, cardboard, metals, glass) according to company standards and regulatory guidelines.
- Perform quality control checks on sorted materials to ensure purity and reduce contamination.
- Conduct routine inspections and minor maintenance on machinery and equipment; report major issues to supervisors.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and storage containers, utilizing appropriate material handling equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering strictly to all health and safety regulations.
- Assist with inventory management of recycled materials and supplies.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance operational efficiency and safety practices.
- Document daily activities, including material volumes and equipment logs.
Required Skills
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a warehouse, production, or waste management environment.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery (e.g., forklift, skid steer) or willingness to obtain certification.
- Strong understanding and adherence to safety protocols.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and stand for extended periods.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for equipment maintenance.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a dedicated recycling or waste processing facility.
- Forklift operator certification.
- Knowledge of local and provincial recycling regulations.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
