Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking dedicated and compassionate Respite Workers to join our network of care professionals in Sherwood, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide temporary relief and care for individuals with special needs, disabilities, or chronic illnesses, allowing primary caregivers a break.
  • Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, medication reminders, and mobility support.
  • Engage clients in stimulating and appropriate activities, both at home and within the community, fostering their independence and social interaction.
  • Implement individualized care plans, observing and documenting any changes in client condition or behavior.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment for clients.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with clients, their families, and other care team members.
  • Adhere strictly to all confidentiality, safety, and ethical guidelines.
  • Transport clients to appointments or community outings as required, using a personal vehicle or public transportation.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support, ensuring the client feels valued and respected.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a caregiving or support role.
  • Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a compassionate demeanor.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a care team.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
  • First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate or diploma in Human Services, Personal Support Worker (PSW), or a related field.
  • Experience working with diverse populations or specific conditions (e.g., autism, dementia, physical disabilities).
  • Proficiency in additional languages.
