Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Security Engineer to join our growing team in Knowle, Bristol. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in safeguarding Career.zycto’s information systems and data, as well as those of our clients, from the ever-evolving landscape of cyber threats. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining our security infrastructure, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices. You’ll contribute to our strategic security roadmap, respond to incidents, conduct vulnerability assessments, and implement robust security measures across various platforms. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain security systems and solutions (e.g., firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, SIEM).
- Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing to identify and address weaknesses.
- Monitor security events and alerts, responding promptly to incidents and performing root cause analysis.
- Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and guidelines in alignment with industry best practices (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST).
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate security into the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Stay current with emerging security threats, technologies, and regulations, recommending appropriate safeguards.
- Manage access controls, identity management systems, and cryptographic solutions.
- Provide expert advice and training on security best practices to internal teams.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in security technologies: Firewalls, IDS/IPS, WAF, VPN, Endpoint Protection.
- Strong understanding of network protocols and security concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, SSL/TLS).
- Experience with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, ELK Stack, LogRhythm) for logging and event correlation.
- Hands-on experience with vulnerability scanning and penetration testing tools (e.g., Nessus, Qualys, Metasploit).
- Familiarity with cloud security principles and platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automation and analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+, CEH).
- Experience with incident response and forensic analysis.
