Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough on-site inspections of construction work, materials, and equipment to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Monitor progress of work, verify quality of workmanship, and identify deviations or non-conformances, documenting all findings with clear reports and photographic evidence.
- Review and interpret blueprints, schematics, and other technical documents to ensure accurate understanding of project requirements.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to address issues, resolve discrepancies, and ensure timely project completion.
- Prepare comprehensive daily, weekly, and monthly inspection reports, including progress updates, issues identified, and corrective actions taken.
- Participate in site meetings, contributing expert insights on quality control and compliance matters.
- Ensure all health and safety protocols are strictly followed on site, reporting any unsafe conditions or practices immediately.
- Verify proper testing procedures are followed for materials and installations, and review test results for compliance.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all inspections, communications, and project documentation.
Required Skills
- Minimum 5 years of experience in site inspection, construction supervision, or a related field.
- Proven knowledge of construction methods, materials, and relevant building codes (e.g., BC Building Code).
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for reporting and stakeholder interaction.
- Proficiency in using inspection tools and basic computer software (MS Office Suite, reporting tools).
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License and a clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently in various weather conditions and traverse construction sites safely.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certification (e.g., Certified Construction Inspector, P.Eng, AScT).
- Experience with various project types (e.g., municipal infrastructure, commercial, residential).
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Experience with quality management systems (ISO 9001).
