Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute experiments for the expression, purification, and characterization of challenging target proteins relevant to disease pathways.
  • Determine high-resolution 3D structures of biological macromolecules using techniques such as X-ray crystallography, cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM), or NMR spectroscopy.
  • Analyze and interpret structural data, integrating it with biochemical, biophysical, and functional data to gain deep insights into protein mechanism and function.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including biochemists, cell biologists, computational chemists, and pharmacologists to advance research projects from conception to completion.
  • Prepare detailed scientific reports, presentations, and contribute to scientific publications and patent applications.
  • Maintain state-of-the-art laboratory equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and implementing best practices for structural biology workflows.
  • Actively participate in scientific discussions, journal clubs, and contribute to the intellectual property development of the organization.

Required Skills

  • PhD in Structural Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or a closely related scientific field.
  • Proficiency in protein expression and purification from various systems (e.g., E. coli, insect cells, mammalian cells).
  • Demonstrated expertise in X-ray crystallography, including crystal growth, data collection, and structure determination and refinement.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex structural and biophysical data.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard structural biology software packages (e.g., PHENIX, CCP4, PyMOL, Coot).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting complex scientific information to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work both independently on specific tasks and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-doctoral experience in an academic or industrial setting, ideally within pharmaceutical or biotechnology sectors.
  • Hands-on experience with cryo-EM data collection, processing, and 3D reconstruction.
  • Familiarity with NMR spectroscopy for protein structure determination and dynamics studies.
  • In-depth knowledge of drug discovery principles and practical experience in structure-based drug design.
  • Experience with automation and high-throughput screening technologies in protein science.
