Key Responsibilities
- Assist the lead teacher with daily classroom activities and lesson implementation.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students requiring additional assistance.
- Help prepare instructional materials, displays, and classroom decorations.
- Supervise students during non-instructional times, including lunch, recess, and transitions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and positive learning environment.
- Support classroom management strategies to ensure a productive learning atmosphere.
- Communicate effectively with the lead teacher regarding student progress and needs.
- Assist with grading papers, recording attendance, and other administrative tasks as needed.
- Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment where all students feel valued and encouraged.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and staff meetings as required.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Strong desire to work with elementary school-aged children
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
- Basic computer proficiency
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or some college coursework in Education, Child Development, or related field
- Prior volunteer or paid experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Bilingual abilities (especially Spanish)
