Career.zycto is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Tour Guide to join our expanding team in Mathare, Nairobi. This is an incredible opportunity for someone who deeply loves Nairobi, understands its diverse communities, and possesses a knack for creating memorable experiences for visitors from around the globe. As a Tour Guide, you will be the face of our organization, guiding individuals and groups through various cultural, historical, and scenic locations primarily within Mathare and its surrounding areas, as well as broader Nairobi attractions when needed. You’ll be responsible for providing engaging commentary, ensuring the safety and comfort of our guests, and managing logistics on the ground.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead engaging and informative tours for individuals and groups through Mathare, Nairobi, and other designated attractions.
- Provide accurate, compelling, and educational commentary on historical sites, cultural landmarks, local customs, and daily life.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all tour participants, adhering strictly to safety protocols and company guidelines.
- Manage tour logistics, including scheduling, transportation coordination (where applicable), and time management.
- Handle on-the-spot problem-solving and adapt to unexpected situations with professionalism and calm.
- Facilitate positive interactions between tourists and local communities, promoting cultural understanding and respect.
- Collect feedback from tour participants to continuously improve tour experiences.
- Maintain a deep and up-to-date knowledge of local history, current events, and relevant points of interest.
- Assist with marketing efforts by sharing compelling stories and images from tours (with consent).
- Represent Career.zycto with professionalism, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude at all times.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Tour Guide or in a similar customer-facing role, preferably in Nairobi.
- Exceptional communication and public speaking skills, with the ability to captivate an audience.
- In-depth knowledge of Mathare, Nairobi's history, culture, geography, and current affairs.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport quickly with diverse groups.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of Swahili is a significant advantage.
- Ability to walk long distances and stand for extended periods, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Tourism, Hospitality, History, or a related field.
- Multilingual abilities beyond English and Swahili (e.g., French, German, Spanish).
- Experience in community engagement or development projects.
- Demonstrated ability to develop new tour itineraries or enhance existing ones.
- A valid Kenyan driving license (Class D) with a clean driving record (for driving guide roles).
