Key Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and maintain water treatment plants and systems, including pumps, filters, chemical feed systems, and control panels.
- Conduct routine inspections, sampling, and laboratory tests to ensure water quality meets regulatory standards and internal specifications.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and chemical issues within water treatment processes and perform necessary repairs or adjustments.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment, including calibration of instruments, cleaning, lubrication, and replacement of worn parts.
- Record and maintain accurate operational data, maintenance logs, and chemical usage records.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
- Respond promptly to alarms and emergencies, taking corrective action to restore system functionality and safety.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to optimize plant performance and implement process improvements.
Required Skills
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, and verbal communication)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in water treatment operations or a related field
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Proficiency in basic water quality testing and analysis
- Knowledge of chemical handling and safety procedures
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and P&IDs
- Valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver's License
- Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various environmental conditions
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Water Quality Technology, Environmental Technology, or a related discipline
- Level I or II Water Treatment Operator Certification (e.g., EOCP certification)
- Experience with SCADA systems and automated control platforms
- Basic computer proficiency for data entry and report generation
- First Aid and CPR certification
