Job Description

Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain critical server infrastructure (Windows Server, Linux) and virtualised environments (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Manage and optimise cloud environments, specifically Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS), including resource deployment, monitoring, and cost management.
- Ensure the security, integrity, and availability of all systems, implementing best practices for data protection, backup, and disaster recovery.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and resolve incidents efficiently to minimise downtime and disruption.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts (PowerShell, Bash) to streamline routine tasks and improve operational efficiency.
- Administer and support network infrastructure, including firewalls, routers, switches, and VPN solutions, ensuring secure and reliable connectivity.
- Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and other core infrastructure services.
- Collaborate with project teams to integrate new technologies and solutions into existing environments.
- Provide expert-level technical support and guidance to internal teams and, where necessary, to clients.
- Maintain comprehensive system documentation, including configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend and implement innovative solutions.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as a Systems Engineer or similar role.
- Proficiency in administering and troubleshooting Windows Server environments (2012 R2, 2016, 2019).
- Strong experience with virtualization technologies (VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V).
- Demonstrable experience with cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure and/or AWS.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, Firewalls).
- Experience with scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash) for automation.
- In-depth knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and related services.
- Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
- Strong commitment to security best practices and data protection.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Industry certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, CompTIA Server+, or equivalent.
- Experience with Linux operating systems (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS).
- Familiarity with ITIL framework and service management best practices.
- Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Zabbix).
- Knowledge of storage solutions (SAN, NAS) and backup technologies.
- Previous experience working in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment.
