Job Description

Are you a highly skilled and proactive Cloud Security Consultant eager to apply your expertise in a dynamic, remote-first environment? Wood is seeking a seasoned Remote Cloud Security Consultant to join our global digital transformation team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in safeguarding our cloud infrastructure and services, ensuring robust security postures across various cloud platforms, including AWS, Azure, and GCP. You will work closely with development, operations, and business units to design, implement, and maintain secure cloud environments that align with industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and our internal security policies. This position offers the flexibility of remote work, allowing you to contribute your skills from anywhere in Scotland, while remaining connected to our Aberdeen-based core operations and global teams.

As a trusted advisor, you will conduct thorough security assessments, develop comprehensive threat models, and recommend appropriate security controls to mitigate risks. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain robust cloud security architectures across AWS, Azure, and GCP platforms.
  • Conduct comprehensive cloud security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability management to identify and address weaknesses.
  • Develop and enforce cloud security policies, standards, and best practices in line with leading industry frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Benchmarks).
  • Provide expert guidance on secure configuration of cloud services, identity and access management (IAM), data protection, and network security.
  • Perform detailed threat modelling and risk assessments for cloud-native applications and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to embed security into the CI/CD pipeline (DevSecOps) from inception.
  • Respond effectively to security incidents within cloud environments, conducting thorough investigations and implementing timely remediation actions.
  • Stay abreast of emerging cloud security threats, technologies, and regulatory changes, recommending proactive measures to enhance our security posture.
  • Educate and mentor internal teams on cloud security principles and best practices to foster a security-conscious culture.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of Wood's overall cybersecurity strategy and posture.

Required Skills

  • Proven extensive experience with cloud security architecture and engineering in AWS, Azure, or GCP (multi-cloud experience highly desirable).
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native security services, tools, and best practices.
  • Expertise in Identity and Access Management (IAM), network security, data encryption, and security monitoring within cloud environments.
  • Deep familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation and security tool development.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team setting.
  • Experience with CI/CD security and DevSecOps principles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant cloud security certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Security – Specialty, Azure Security Engineer Associate, GCP Professional Cloud Security Engineer).
  • Industry-recognized cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CCSP.
  • Experience with container security (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architectures.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) security practices (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Prior experience in a consulting role or within a large-scale enterprise environment.
