Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Civil Engineer to join our project team based in Thika, Kiambu County. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in overseeing the planning, design, execution, and supervision of various civil engineering projects within our construction portfolio. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and a proven track record in managing construction processes from inception to completion. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage construction site operations, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Review and interpret engineering designs, drawings, and technical specifications, providing feedback and seeking clarifications as needed.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations on site.
  • Coordinate with project managers, architects, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth project execution.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed project documentation, including daily reports, progress reports, material logs, and quality control records.
  • Conduct thorough site inspections and quality checks on materials and workmanship.
  • Assist in the procurement and management of materials, equipment, and labor resources.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to site teams and junior engineers.
  • Participate in site meetings, contributing to problem-solving and strategic decision-making processes.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in line with industry best practices and company policies.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in civil engineering roles, preferably within a construction firm.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other relevant engineering design software.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulatory standards.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English and Swahili.
  • Proven problem-solving capabilities and keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registered Engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
  • Familiarity with Kenyan building codes and construction regulations.
  • Experience in specific project types relevant to Epco Builders (e.g., large-scale infrastructure, commercial buildings, residential developments).
