Key Responsibilities
- Operate and interpret advanced screening equipment, including X-ray machines, body scanners, and metal detectors, for passengers and baggage.
- Conduct thorough manual and physical searches of individuals, carry-on luggage, and checked baggage as required by security protocols.
- Verify identification, travel documents, and access credentials for all individuals entering restricted areas.
- Monitor and control access points, ensuring only authorised personnel and passengers proceed beyond security checkpoints.
- Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, security incidents, and emergency situations, following established procedures.
- Conduct routine patrols and utilise surveillance systems to maintain vigilance across designated airport zones.
- Accurately record and report all security breaches, suspicious activities, and incidents to the relevant authorities.
- Strictly adhere to all national and international aviation security regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Provide clear, concise instructions and exceptional customer service to a diverse range of passengers and airport staff.
- Complete all necessary documentation and reports accurately and in a timely manner.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 12 months) in a security, public safety, or customer service role requiring vigilance.
- Exceptional observational skills and attention to detail to identify potential threats or irregularities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with a calm and professional demeanour.
- Demonstrated ability to perform effectively under pressure and in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Fundamental knowledge of security protocols, procedures, and relevant legislation.
- Basic IT literacy for operating security systems and completing digital reports.
- Physical fitness required for prolonged standing, walking, lifting, and potentially intervening in security situations.
- Possession of the legal right to work in the United Kingdom.
- Ability to successfully pass a comprehensive background check, including Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) or Security Clearance (SC).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience specifically within airport security or another high-security, regulated environment.
- Valid SIA (Security Industry Authority) Licence, particularly Door Supervisor or Security Guarding.
- In-depth knowledge of aviation security regulations (e.g., DfT, EU directives).
- Current First Aid at Work certification.
- Proficiency in additional languages relevant to international travel.
