Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking an enthusiastic Full-Time Youth Worker to join our dedicated team in the vibrant Altstadt of Tübingen. This pivotal role involves directly engaging with youth, creating safe and inclusive spaces, and delivering programs that support their personal, social, and educational growth. You will be instrumental in empowering young individuals to overcome challenges, discover their strengths, and navigate the complexities of adolescence.

As a Youth Worker, you’ll be on the front lines, building trusting relationships and acting as a mentor, advocate, and guide. Your days will be varied, ranging from organizing recreational and educational activities to providing one-on-one support and group facilitation. We are looking for someone who can inspire confidence, promote positive behaviors, and help young people develop essential life skills, including communication, problem-solving, and resilience. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan, and deliver engaging youth programs and activities that promote personal growth, social inclusion, and skill development.
  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with young people, providing guidance, mentorship, and informal counseling.
  • Identify the needs of individual young people and groups, connecting them with appropriate internal and external support services.
  • Facilitate group discussions, workshops, and recreational activities that address relevant youth issues and interests.
  • Collaborate with parents, schools, community partners, and other agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to youth support.
  • Act as an advocate for young people, representing their interests and voices within the organization and wider community.
  • Maintain accurate records of youth participation, progress, and program outcomes.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during programs and activities, adhering to safeguarding policies.
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and professional development opportunities.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and improvement of youth services and programs.

Required Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly with young people.
  • Proven ability to build rapport and establish trusting relationships.
  • Experience in program planning, delivery, and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of youth development principles and current issues affecting young people.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach.
  • Crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Youth Work, Education, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Formal qualification or certification in youth work.
  • Experience working with diverse youth populations.
  • Proficiency in German (B2 level or higher) and English.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Knowledge of local community resources and services in Tübingen.
