Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Marine Engineer with a proven track record in ship maintenance to join our dynamic team based in Formby, Liverpool. This pivotal role requires an individual who is not only technically proficient in marine systems but also possesses a proactive and analytical approach to identifying, diagnosing, and resolving complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on various vessel types. You will be instrumental in ensuring the operational readiness, safety, and efficiency of our clients’ maritime assets, strictly adhering to stringent industry standards, international regulations, and classification society requirements. We are looking for an engineer who thrives in a challenging, fast-paced environment, capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, bringing innovative and cost-effective solutions to the forefront of our maintenance operations. Your expertise will directly contribute to minimizing vessel downtime, extending asset lifespan, optimizing performance, and upholding the impeccable safety record critical to our clients’ success. Key Responsibilities

  • Execute planned preventative and corrective maintenance on marine engines, auxiliary machinery, propulsion systems, and deck equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults efficiently and effectively.
  • Perform comprehensive inspections and surveys of vessels to assess machinery condition and identify potential issues.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all relevant international maritime regulations (e.g., SOLAS, MARPOL) and classification society rules.
  • Oversee and participate in dry-docking and major overhaul projects, ensuring quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, parts inventory, and technical documentation.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to vessel crew on operational best practices and fault rectification.
  • Implement and promote best practices for safety, environmental protection, and operational efficiency onboard vessels.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Marine Engineer in ship maintenance or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of marine propulsion systems, auxiliary machinery, and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Excellent understanding of maritime safety regulations and environmental protection standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for technical reporting and team collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Holds a Class 1 or Class 2 Marine Engineer Officer Certificate of Competency (CoC).
  • Experience with various types of vessels, including cargo ships, passenger vessels, or offshore support vessels.
  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Project management experience in ship repair or conversion projects.
