Job Description
Are you passionate about sustainable agriculture and eager to contribute to the growth of vital food and ornamental crops? Narok Farmers Cooperative Union Ltd. is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Greenhouse Attendant to join our thriving horticultural team in Narok County. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a keen eye for detail and a strong work ethic to play a crucial role in cultivating high-quality produce and plants that support our local community and beyond. We are a community-focused organization dedicated to empowering our member farmers and enhancing agricultural productivity through innovation and best practices.
As a Greenhouse Attendant specializing in Plant Cultivation, you will be at the heart of our operations, working hands-on with a diverse range of crops within a controlled environment. Your daily tasks will involve everything from meticulous seeding and transplanting to precise watering, feeding, and pruning, all geared towards fostering optimal plant health and maximizing yield. You will learn and apply best practices in integrated pest management, ensuring our plants remain vibrant and disease-free using environmentally sound methods. This role requires someone who is not afraid of physical work, is observant, and committed to maintaining impeccable standards in our greenhouse facilities. You will be responsible for ensuring that all plant life cycles are managed efficiently, from germination to harvest, adhering to strict quality control protocols to meet market demands and consumer expectations. This includes routine inspection of plants for signs of stress, disease, or pests, and promptly reporting any anomalies to the Greenhouse Supervisor.
Beyond the daily care of plants, you will be instrumental in monitoring environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and light, making necessary adjustments to create the ideal growing conditions. This also involves the careful management of irrigation systems and nutrient delivery to ensure plants receive exactly what they need for robust growth. You will also be involved in harvesting, packaging, and preparing crops for market, ensuring freshness and quality from our greenhouse to our customers. A critical component of this role involves accurate record-keeping of growth stages, yields, input usage, and any observations, which aids in continuous improvement and strategic planning. This position offers a dynamic work environment where your contributions directly impact the success of our cooperative and the livelihoods of our member farmers. We are looking for someone who is reliable, a quick learner, and eager to grow with us, embracing new techniques and technologies in modern horticulture.
