Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimise transport routes for a fleet of vehicles, considering factors like delivery schedules, road networks, driver availability, and vehicle capacity.
- Manage daily vehicle dispatch operations, ensuring all loads are assigned efficiently and drivers receive clear instructions.
- Utilise transport management systems (TMS) and other planning software to build accurate schedules and monitor progress.
- Collaborate closely with drivers, warehouse teams, and customer service to resolve operational issues and ensure seamless execution.
- Monitor and analyse transport performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant transport legislation, health and safety standards, and company policies.
- Respond effectively to last-minute changes, unexpected delays, and customer requests, adjusting plans as necessary.
- Contribute to fuel efficiency initiatives and cost reduction strategies through effective route planning.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Transport Planner or in a similar logistics role (e.g., Dispatcher, Scheduler).
- Strong understanding of transport regulations, driving hours, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in using Transport Management Systems (TMS) and route optimisation software.
- Excellent geographical knowledge of Aberdeen and surrounding areas.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills under pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a fast-paced team.
Preferred Qualifications
