Key Responsibilities
- Translate a variety of documents (e.g., technical, marketing, legal, medical) from source to target language, maintaining original meaning, context, and tone.
- Localize content to ensure cultural appropriateness and resonance with the target audience in Nakuru and beyond.
- Proofread and edit translated texts for grammar, spelling, punctuation, style, and accuracy.
- Conduct thorough terminology research to ensure consistency and precision across all projects.
- Manage multiple translation projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and strict adherence to project specifications.
- Utilize Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools and translation memory software effectively to enhance efficiency and consistency.
- Maintain open and proactive communication with project managers and clients regarding project progress and any potential issues.
- Adhere strictly to established quality standards and client-specific style guides.
- Continuously improve linguistic skills and subject matter expertise.
Required Skills
- Native-level fluency in at least one target language (e.g., Swahili, French, German) and exceptional proficiency in English.
- Proven experience as a professional translator, preferably in a freelance capacity.
- Excellent written communication skills and a deep understanding of grammar, syntax, and style in both source and target languages.
- Strong cultural awareness and ability to localize content effectively for diverse audiences.
- Proficiency with CAT tools (e.g., Trados Studio, MemoQ, Wordfast).
