Your nightly regimen will encompass a broad spectrum of proactive and responsive security measures meticulously designed to deter criminal activity, prevent unauthorized access, and robustly protect all company property. This will involve the diligent monitoring of advanced CCTV systems, meticulous inspection of all entry and exit points – including doors, windows, and gates – and the precise documentation of all activities, incidents, and observations in a comprehensive security logbook. You will be responsible for controlling access to the premises, verifying credentials, and ensuring that only authorized personnel are granted entry during your shift. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular, thorough patrols of the entire premises, both internal and external, meticulously checking all access points, gates, windows, and building perimeters.
- Monitor surveillance equipment (CCTV) diligently to detect and prevent unauthorized entry, theft, vandalism, or any form of damage to property.
- Verify the identity and authorization of all individuals including employees, visitors, and contractors entering and exiting the premises during the night shifts.
- Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, disturbances, and critical emergency situations (e.g., fires, medical incidents, security breaches) following established organizational protocols.
- Maintain detailed, accurate, and timely records of all incidents, observations, activities, and security checks performed during the shift in a comprehensive security logbook.
- Report any suspicious behavior, unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, or security breaches to the appropriate management personnel immediately and clearly.
- Ensure all security equipment, including alarms and cameras, is functioning correctly and report any malfunctions or defects without delay.
- Strictly enforce company security policies, rules, and procedures to maintain a safe and compliant environment.
- Assist in the orderly and safe evacuation of personnel during emergencies, if required, and guide them to designated assembly points.
- Provide a visible and reassuring deterrent against crime and unauthorized activities, contributing to a secure atmosphere.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in a security guard or watchman role, with demonstrated night shift experience.
- Exceptional observational skills, acute vigilance, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and make quick decisions under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective reporting and interaction.
- Unquestionable integrity, honesty, reliability, and a high level of professionalism.
- Basic knowledge of security procedures, protocols, and relevant legal frameworks.
- Good physical fitness and the ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods, and perform duties in various weather conditions.
- Proficiency in basic report writing and accurate record-keeping.
Preferred Qualifications
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or an equivalent academic qualification.
- Valid certification in First Aid and Fire Safety.
- Prior hands-on experience with CCTV monitoring systems and access control technologies.
- Familiarity with local security regulations and laws specific to Kenya.
- Basic computer literacy for digital incident reporting and communication.
