Key Responsibilities
- Lead engaging and informative tours for groups of varying sizes and demographics.
- Provide accurate and captivating historical, cultural, and ecological commentary on points of interest.
- Ensure the safety and comfort of all tour participants throughout the duration of the tour.
- Manage group dynamics effectively, adapting to diverse interests and unexpected situations.
- Handle unforeseen circumstances, such as schedule changes or minor guest issues, with professionalism and grace.
- Maintain a high level of punctuality, preparedness, and enthusiasm for each scheduled tour.
- Promote local businesses, crafts, and responsible tourism practices when appropriate.
- Collect and incorporate feedback from tour participants to continuously enhance future tour experiences.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and local tourism guidelines.
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal communication, presentation, and storytelling abilities.
- Fluent in English and French; Mauritian Creole proficiency is a strong advantage.
- In-depth knowledge of Mauritian history, geography, culture, ecology, and key attractions.
- Strong organizational skills and efficient time management.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, public holidays, and early mornings/late evenings.
- Valid Mauritian driving license (car/van) and a clean driving record.
- First Aid certification or a willingness to obtain it promptly.
- Exceptional customer service-oriented mindset with a friendly, approachable, and patient demeanor.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (1+ years) as a Tour Guide or in a similar public-facing, hospitality-related role.
