Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Suicide Prevention Specialist to join our vital team in Saint-Laurent, Montreal. This full-time role is at the forefront of community mental health, offering crucial support, intervention, and education to individuals at risk and their support networks. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct immediate and comprehensive suicide risk assessments for individuals in crisis, adhering to best practice guidelines.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized safety plans in collaboration with clients, families, and their support systems.
  • Provide empathetic crisis intervention and short-term counseling, linking clients to appropriate long-term mental health resources and community services.
  • Deliver engaging educational workshops and presentations on suicide prevention, mental health awareness, and crisis management to community groups and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external agencies, including emergency services and healthcare providers, to ensure coordinated care and seamless transitions.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely documentation of all client interactions, assessments, interventions, and follow-ups in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities, clinical supervision, and team meetings to enhance skills, knowledge, and contribute to program improvement.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a closely related mental health field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct experience in crisis intervention, suicide risk assessment, and prevention strategies.
  • Proficiency in conducting thorough suicide risk assessments, developing safety plans, and implementing evidence-based intervention techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm, composed, and effective in high-stress, emotionally charged crisis situations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and empathetically.
  • Strong empathetic listening skills, cultural competence, and a client-centered approach to care.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of local mental health resources, community support networks, and relevant legislation in Montreal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant clinical field (e.g., MSW, M.A. in Psychology/Counselling).
  • Professional certification in crisis intervention or suicide prevention (e.g., ASIST, CBT for Suicide Prevention).
  • Fluency in both English and French is highly advantageous to serve our diverse community.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including youth, seniors, and individuals from various cultural backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with tele-health platforms and delivering virtual support services.
