Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking an accomplished and dedicated Health and Safety Manager to lead our comprehensive safety initiatives in Waterville, Maine. In this pivotal full-time role, you will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and overseeing all health and safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure a secure, compliant, and healthy work environment for our entire team. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive health and safety programs and policies in alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance across all operational areas.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Design and deliver engaging safety training programs for all employees, fostering a proactive safety culture.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, training, and compliance activities.
  • Manage emergency preparedness plans, including drills and response procedures.
  • Stay abreast of new and evolving health and safety regulations and technologies, recommending adjustments as necessary.
  • Collaborate with management and employees to promote a healthy and safe work environment.
  • Oversee the selection, implementation, and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Advise on ergonomic improvements and occupational health initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing EHS management systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal and state safety regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead, influence, and motivate employees at all levels.
  • Proficient in incident investigation techniques and root cause analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Computer proficiency, including MS Office Suite and EHS management software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager), or similar.
  • Experience in a multi-site or diverse operational environment.
  • Experience with ISO 45001 or other recognized safety management system standards.
  • First Aid/CPR Instructor certification.
