Job Description
We are seeking an exceptionally talented and dedicated Red Seal Carpenter to join our team for a crucial project within the Nova Apartments in Inuvik, Northwest Territories. Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
- Prepare layouts, measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.
- Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems.
- Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware.
- Repair and renovate wooden structures in residential and commercial buildings.
- Supervise apprentices and other construction workers as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering strictly to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Operate power tools and hand tools safely and proficiently.
- Estimate material quantities and labor costs for projects.
- Collaborate effectively with other trades and project management to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met.
Required Skills
- Red Seal Carpenter certification
- Minimum 5 years of post-certification carpentry experience
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings
- Expertise in framing, finishing, and general carpentry tasks
- Strong understanding of building codes and safety regulations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding tasks in various weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in remote or Northern environments
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Aerial Work Platform (AWP) or Fall Protection certification
- Experience with concrete formwork and pouring
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean abstract
