Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized support plans (ISPs) in collaboration with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Provide direct support and supervision to individuals with developmental disabilities, assisting with daily living activities, personal care, and community integration.
  • Facilitate skill development in areas such as communication, social interaction, life skills, vocational training, and recreational activities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress, incidents, and program activities, adhering to privacy and confidentiality guidelines.
  • Advocate for clients' rights and needs, ensuring their dignity, respect, and personal choices are prioritized.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, families, guardians, and external agencies to ensure holistic and coordinated care.
  • Promote a safe, healthy, and stimulating environment, identifying and addressing potential risks or challenges.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Strong understanding of person-centered planning and support principles.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a non-judgmental approach.
  • Capacity to handle challenging behaviors with calm and professional demeanor.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications for documentation and reporting.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle (preferred, but not always mandatory depending on role-specific needs).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Developmental Services, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is a significant asset in Quebec.
  • Experience with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
