Job Description
Career.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and experienced DevOps Engineer to join our growing team in Portobello, Edinburgh. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
- Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate software builds, testing, and deployments.
- Implement and manage containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure optimal uptime and reliability of production systems.
- Automate operational tasks, deployments, and infrastructure provisioning using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and automation tools.
- Collaborate closely with development teams to integrate new features, resolve technical challenges, and ensure operational readiness.
- Implement and maintain security best practices within our infrastructure and deployment processes.
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response to ensure rapid resolution of production issues.
- Document infrastructure, processes, and operational procedures to ensure maintainability and knowledge sharing.
- Continuously evaluate new technologies and tools to improve efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of our systems.
Required Skills
- Strong experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Lambda, CloudWatch).
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and Bash.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD concepts and experience with tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
- Extensive experience with Docker and container orchestration using Kubernetes.
- Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems and networking fundamentals.
- Experience with version control systems, particularly Git.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in a production environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant AWS (e.g., Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer) or other cloud certifications.
- Experience with other cloud providers (Azure, GCP).
- Knowledge of configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
- Experience with database administration (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
- Understanding of microservices architecture and API design.
- Experience with security auditing and compliance.
- Familiarity with serverless computing paradigms.
- Prior experience mentoring junior engineers.
