Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging, hands-on DJ lessons to individuals and small groups of varying skill levels.
  • Teach fundamental and advanced DJ techniques, including beatmatching, scratching, mixing, looping, track selection, and effective use of effects.
  • Instruct on the proper operation and setup of various DJ equipment (e.g., turntables, CDJs, controllers, mixers).
  • Create a positive, encouraging, and interactive learning environment that fosters creativity and technical growth.
  • Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and adapt teaching methods to suit individual learning styles.
  • Stay current with industry trends, new equipment, software, and evolving music technology.
  • Potentially assist students with understanding basic music theory concepts relevant to DJing and music production.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe teaching space.
  • Potentially assist with organizing student performance showcases or recitals.

Required Skills

  • Proven expertise and professional proficiency in various DJing techniques (beatmatching, mixing, scratching, looping, effects).
  • In-depth knowledge of and proficiency with professional DJ equipment (e.g., Pioneer CDJs, Technics turntables, various controllers, and software like Serato DJ, Rekordbox, Traktor).
  • Strong understanding of music genres relevant to modern DJing and electronic music culture.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor individuals of varying ages and skill levels effectively.
  • Patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for sharing musical knowledge and inspiring others.
  • Reliable, punctual, and highly organized with strong time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Formal training, certification, or degree in music education, audio engineering, or a related field.
  • Prior experience teaching in an educational setting, music school, or providing private lessons.
  • Basic knowledge of music production software (e.g., Ableton Live, Logic Pro, FL Studio).
  • Experience with live performance, event DJing, or professional gigging.
  • Ability to teach and integrate diverse music genres and cultural styles into lessons.
