Job Description

As a Darkroom Technician, you will play a crucial role in bringing images to life. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, you will be trained in all aspects of darkroom operations, from handling light-sensitive materials and mixing chemistry to operating specialized equipment. This role demands meticulous attention to detail, patience, and a methodical approach, ensuring the highest quality in every print and developed film. You will learn to process various film formats, create stunning black and white and color prints, and contribute to the upkeep of a safe and efficient darkroom environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Learn and execute the full process of developing black and white and color film, adhering to strict chemical and temperature guidelines.
  • Master various printing techniques, including enlargements, contact prints, and dodging/burning, to achieve desired artistic and technical results.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of darkroom equipment, including enlargers, processors, and sinks.
  • Accurately mix and monitor chemical solutions, ensuring proper safety protocols and disposal procedures are followed.
  • Conduct quality control checks on all developed film and prints to maintain the highest standards of excellence.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe darkroom environment at all times.
  • Assist with inventory management of film, paper, and chemistry supplies.
  • Collaborate with senior technicians and photographers on various projects, contributing to a team-oriented workflow.
  • Continuously learn new techniques and processes to enhance skills and contribute to innovation within the darkroom.
