Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Electrician to join our facilities maintenance team, specifically to oversee and manage the electrical systems within our commercial building premises at Sarit Centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operation of all electrical installations, appliances, and infrastructure that support our bustling café and bakery operations. This role demands a proactive approach to preventive maintenance, keen diagnostic abilities for troubleshooting complex electrical issues, and a commitment to adhering to the highest safety and regulatory standards. You will play a crucial role in maintaining our operational excellence, contributing directly to the smooth running of our business and the comfort of our customers and employees. This is an on-site position requiring a hands-on professional capable of working independently and as part of a broader facilities team, ensuring that all electrical components, from lighting to kitchen equipment, are in optimal working order.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on all electrical systems, wiring, and equipment within the commercial premises.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults, breakdowns, and malfunctions in a timely and efficient manner.
- Install, test, and commission new electrical installations, circuits, and appliances in accordance with blueprints, specifications, and local electrical codes.
- Execute preventive maintenance programs for electrical infrastructure, including lighting systems, power outlets, kitchen equipment (ovens, refrigerators, coffee machines), HVAC electrical components, and emergency power systems.
- Ensure strict compliance with all relevant electrical safety standards, local regulations (e.g., KEBS, EPRA), and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of all electrical maintenance activities, including repairs, replacements, and inspections.
- Respond promptly to electrical emergencies, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions to minimize disruption.
- Collaborate effectively with other maintenance personnel, facility managers, and external contractors to coordinate repair and installation projects.
- Provide technical guidance and support regarding electrical safety and best practices to other staff members.
- Manage electrical inventory, ensuring adequate stock of essential spare parts and materials.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Commercial Electrician, preferably in a hospitality or retail environment.
- Valid Electrician's License or relevant certification (e.g., EPRA Technician/Craftsman license).
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical faults using appropriate tools and testing equipment.
- Thorough understanding of electrical safety procedures and local building codes.
- Experience with single-phase and three-phase power systems.
- Ability to perform installations, repairs, and maintenance independently.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience with building management systems (BMS) or smart building technologies.
- Additional certifications in specialized electrical systems or controls.
- First Aid and Fire Safety certification.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings or weekends, as required for emergencies or scheduled maintenance.
