Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients and event planners to understand their vision, budget, and specific requirements for each event.
  • Develop creative and innovative décor concepts, including mood boards, sketches, and detailed design proposals.
  • Source and select appropriate decorative elements such as flowers, lighting, fabrics, furniture, props, and signage.
  • Manage inventory of décor items, ensuring proper maintenance, storage, and readiness for events.
  • Oversee the meticulous setup and styling of event venues, including floral arrangements, table settings, drapery, lighting, and stage décor.
  • Coordinate with event staff, venue managers, and other vendors to ensure a smooth and timely execution of décor plans.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any on-site design or logistical challenges efficiently and creatively.
  • Ensure all décor installations comply with safety regulations and venue guidelines.
  • Supervise the dismantling and packing of décor items post-event, ensuring careful handling and transport.
  • Stay updated on current design trends, materials, and techniques in the event décor industry.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as an Event Decorator or similar role with a strong portfolio.
  • Exceptional creativity and an eye for aesthetics, detail, and visual harmony.
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp) is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with clients and team members.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift, carry, and set up heavy décor items.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by event schedules.
  • Full UK driving license and access to reliable transport for event logistics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree or diploma in Interior Design, Event Management, Floral Design, or a related creative field.
  • Experience with various event types (e.g., weddings, corporate, festivals).
  • Knowledge of local suppliers and venues in the Glasgow area.
  • A keen understanding of lighting design and its impact on event aesthetics.
  • Experience in budget management for décor projects.
