Career.zycto is actively seeking dedicated and compassionate Group Home Workers to join our team in Spryfield, Halifax. Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and supervision to residents, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household chores.
- Administer medication according to prescribed protocols and maintain accurate medication records.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Plan and facilitate recreational, social, and educational activities to engage residents and promote skill development.
- Support residents in developing independent living skills and achieving their personal goals.
- Accompany residents to appointments, community outings, and other activities as required.
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation of resident progress, incidents, and daily activities.
- Foster a positive and respectful living environment, addressing challenging behaviors with patience and appropriate intervention techniques.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, colleagues, and external professionals.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) of experience in a caregiving, support worker, or similar role.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals with diverse needs, including intellectual disabilities or mental health challenges.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient approach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer proficiency for documentation and record-keeping.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain immediately upon hire).
- Physical ability to assist residents with mobility and participate in activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Human Services, Social Work, Child and Youth Care, or a related field.
- Experience with medication administration and behavior management techniques.
- Knowledge of relevant provincial regulations and standards for group homes.
- Cultural sensitivity and experience working with diverse populations.
- Valid Nova Scotia Class 5 Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.
