Job Description

This integral role is at the heart of our commitment to student well-being and academic success. As a Pastoral Support Officer, you will be instrumental in cultivating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where every student feels valued, heard, and understood. Working closely with the Head of Pastoral Care, teachers, and external agencies, you will provide immediate and ongoing support to students experiencing a range of social, emotional, and behavioural challenges. This involves everything from mediating peer conflicts and addressing bullying, to supporting students through personal crises, family issues, or academic anxieties. Your proactive engagement will be key to identifying potential issues early and implementing timely interventions.

You will play a pivotal role in developing and monitoring individual pastoral support plans, ensuring these are tailored to meet the specific needs of each student. A significant part of your day will involve one-on-one check-ins, group sessions, and liaising with parents/guardians to ensure a consistent approach to student welfare. Documenting interactions and progress accurately will be crucial, contributing to a comprehensive overview of student well-being. Furthermore, you will actively contribute to the school’s safeguarding agenda, strictly adhering to all policies and procedures, and escalating concerns appropriately and promptly. This position requires a calm, empathetic, and resilient individual who can inspire trust and act as a positive role model for our diverse student population. If you are passionate about empowering young people to navigate their challenges and achieve their full potential, and are seeking a rewarding role with immediate impact, we invite you to become a vital part of our dedicated team in Streetly, Birmingham.
