Key Responsibilities

  • Execute the safe and efficient installation of solar PV modules, inverters, batteries, and racking systems on various roof types (tile, metal, flat) and ground-mount structures, strictly adhering to design schematics and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Perform comprehensive electrical wiring, conduit bending, and trenching for PV systems, ensuring all connections are secure, watertight, and compliant with the Kenya Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) standards and local electrical codes.
  • Conduct thorough pre-installation site surveys and post-installation system commissioning tests, including voltage, current, and insulation resistance measurements, to verify system performance and safety.
  • Collaborate effectively with project managers, certified electricians, structural engineers, and other team members, providing regular updates on progress, challenges, and solutions to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols, industry best practices, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, fostering a culture of safety on every job site.
  • Diagnose and skillfully resolve technical issues or unexpected challenges that may arise during installation, commissioning, or routine maintenance, ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed records of installation progress, inventory of materials used, as-built documentation, and any site-specific adjustments or unforeseen circumstances.
  • Provide clear, concise post-installation guidance and demonstrations to clients on the basic operation, monitoring, and routine maintenance requirements of their new solar energy system.
  • Ensure all tools, equipment, and company vehicles are properly maintained, cleaned, and organized, performing routine checks for functionality and safety.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay updated with the latest solar technologies, installation techniques, and industry regulations.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in solar PV system installation, including rooftop and ground-mount applications.
  • Strong understanding of electrical principles and wiring techniques relevant to solar energy.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and design specifications.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools commonly used in construction and electrical work.
  • Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work at heights.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Valid Kenyan driving license.
  • Strong commitment to safety practices and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vocational training or certification in solar technology, electrical installation, or a related field.
  • Experience with various inverter types (string, micro-inverters) and battery storage systems.
  • Knowledge of local building codes and electrical regulations specific to Narok County or Kenya.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and Swahili.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
