Key Responsibilities
- Execute routine vessel maintenance, including chipping, painting, cleaning, and general upkeep of the deck and superstructure.
- Assist with mooring, anchoring, and unmooring operations, ensuring safe and efficient handling of lines and equipment.
- Participate in cargo operations, including loading, stowing, securing, and discharging, strictly adhering to safety protocols.
- Stand watch as required, maintaining a vigilant lookout and assisting with navigation under the direction of an officer.
- Conduct regular safety checks on all deck equipment, life-saving appliances, and fire-fighting systems.
- Actively participate in emergency drills and training, demonstrating proficiency in safety and emergency procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the deck and common areas to ensure a safe working environment.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, damage, or safety concerns promptly to the appropriate supervisor.
Required Skills
- Proficient in knot tying and rope work.
- Solid understanding of maritime safety regulations and procedures.
- Ability to operate deck machinery safely (e.g., winches, cranes).
