Job Description

A Registered Nurse is a crucial part of any healthcare team, providing direct patient care, administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standards of treatment. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in accordance with NMC guidelines and local policies.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, developing, implementing, and evaluating care plans tailored to individual needs.
  • Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately, monitoring for adverse reactions and effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to data protection regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including doctors, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Act as a patient advocate, ensuring patients and their families receive appropriate information, support, and emotional care.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff, promoting a culture of learning and continuous professional development.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies, demonstrating sound clinical judgment and calm under pressure.
  • Participate in ward rounds, handovers, and contribute to the overall management and smooth running of the ward.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, infection control policies, and professional standards.

Required Skills

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
  • Proven experience as a Registered Nurse, preferably within a ward setting
  • Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Proficiency in medication administration and wound care
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Sound knowledge of healthcare policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time and prioritize a demanding workload
  • Proficiency in electronic patient record systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or equivalent
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) or Immediate Life Support (ILS) certification
  • Post-registration qualification relevant to ward nursing (e.g., medical, surgical specialties)
  • Experience in mentoring or supervising junior staff
  • Familiarity with clinical audit and quality improvement processes
