Job Description
As a Loss Prevention Officer at Career.zycto, you will be the frontline defender of our assets, profits, and the safety of our colleagues and customers in our vibrant Haringey locations. This critical role requires a sharp eye for detail, excellent observational skills, and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating potential risks associated with theft, fraud, and operational shrink. You’ll be instrumental in creating a secure shopping environment, contributing directly to the financial health and overall success of our operations by minimizing losses and maintaining a secure atmosphere.
Your day-to-day will involve a dynamic blend of overt and covert surveillance using advanced security systems and direct observation. You will engage proactively with staff to promote loss prevention best practices, educate them on recognizing suspicious behaviour, and ensure compliance with company security policies. A key aspect of your role will be responding swiftly, professionally, and appropriately to suspicious activities, incidents of theft, and other security breaches, adhering strictly to legal guidelines and company procedures. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct overt and covert surveillance to identify and prevent theft, fraud, and other security incidents.
- Monitor CCTV systems and alarms, responding promptly to alerts and suspicious activities.
- Intervene in and resolve security incidents, including apprehending individuals involved in theft, following company protocol and legal guidelines.
- Complete detailed and accurate incident reports, including statements from witnesses and involved parties.
- Collaborate with store management and staff to implement and enforce loss prevention policies and procedures.
- Provide training and guidance to employees on security awareness and theft prevention techniques.
- Perform regular patrols of premises to deter crime and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Liaise with local law enforcement agencies when necessary for incident resolution and prosecution.
- Maintain a visible security presence to deter potential offenders and reassure customers and staff.
- Assist with internal investigations related to inventory shrink and operational losses.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in loss prevention, security, or a similar field.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure.
- Proficiency in writing clear and concise incident reports.
- Working knowledge of relevant security procedures and legal regulations.
- Physical fitness to conduct patrols and stand for extended periods.

- Basic computer literacy for report writing and system monitoring.
Preferred Qualifications
- SIA Door Supervisor or Security Guarding Licence (or ability to obtain one).
- First Aid certification.
- Experience with CCTV monitoring software and alarm systems.
- Knowledge of retail operations and common loss prevention challenges.
- De-escalation and conflict resolution training.
