As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in creating a supportive and stimulating learning environment. You will work closely with class teachers and other professionals to implement tailored learning plans, adapting resources and activities to meet individual student requirements. Your daily tasks will involve providing one-on-one support, facilitating small group work, and assisting students during lessons, break times, and extra-curricular activities. Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with a range of SEND, both within the classroom and in designated learning spaces.
- Assist teachers in preparing and adapting learning materials to meet individual student needs and learning styles.
- Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans (BSPs) under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCo.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment, promoting student independence and self-esteem.
- Help manage classroom behaviour effectively, applying school policies and strategies to support student engagement.
- Support students with personal care needs where required, maintaining dignity and respect.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and contributing to assessments.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other professionals regarding student development and challenges.
- Participate in relevant training sessions and staff meetings to enhance professional development.
- Supervise students during break times, lunchtimes, and during out-of-classroom activities.
Required Skills

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children or young people, whether paid or voluntary (though training is provided).
- Understanding of various special educational needs (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, dyslexia, social-emotional mental health needs).
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths, Grade C/4 or above.
- Relevant Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., CACHE, NCFE) – desirable but not essential as training is provided.
